Valentines Day is here and Americans will purchase around 58 million pounds of chocolate during the days leading up to the 14th and we shell spend somewhere around $345 million to delight our five senses. Sight, this is the first sense we use as we make first contact with the chocolate. Is it dark brown, black, white or milky? Smell, is the aroma that conveys something about its life. Is it musky, spicy or sweet? Taste, is the degree of sweetness. Is it bitter, mild, strong or just right? Touch, is with our fingers to see if it is smooth, silky or rough. Does it begin to melt with a simple touch? Hearing, does it snap as you take a bite or does it simply yield gradually and silently as it swirls in your mouth? Chocolate is an actual food, antioxidant, and most definitely a love potion. How about making your own love potion for Valentines Day to share, snack and nibble on or with the one you love?
Take ½ cup ground praline
½ cup heavy cream
1 ½ tablespoons unsalted butter
5oz milk chocolate, grated
3 ½ oz dark chocolate grated
Put the ground praline, cream, and butter in a pan and bring to a boil. Remove from the heat. Add the chocolates and blend until completely dissolved. Pour the mixture into the mixing bowl and mix for 1 minute at maximum speed. Pour the spread in to a perfect jar. Find a paint brush and begin to full fill the five senses and make sweet art. Happy Valentines Day.
